Turtle Bowl’s Candide Remains Perfect In the Thomas Bryon
Updated: October 8, 2015 at 11:28 am
Having annexed a Sept. 14 firsters’ test by 1 1/4 lengths over this course and distance in his only prior start, Candide safely negotiated this transition into black-type company with a snug win to keep his perfect tally intact. The homebred bay maintained a stalking role in a close-up third from the break in this often informative pointer. Traveling sweetly under a tight hold until allowed an inch of rein at the top of the straight, he was pushed along at the quarter-mile marker and asserted under whipless cajoling in the closing stages to comfortably register a third straight renewal for Andre Fabre and extend the master trainer’s winningest record in the contest to nine.
